WHO WE ARE

Senior Connections is a community-based non-profit organization serving the elderly population of Fayette, Colorado, and Lavaca Counties. Established in 2014, our Center is located in Schulenburg, Texas. Our weekly programs address the unique challenges seniors in our community face by promoting healthy aging through social interaction, mental stimulation, and nutritional meals. Meals are at the heart of all our programming! We pride ourselves on offering warm home-cooked meals four days a week. Our meals and membership are at no cost to our participants.

WHAT WE OFFER
Senior Connections offers a wide variety of activities to engage our members, such as, Dominoes, Cards, Bingo, Lunch & Learn Educational Series, Artful Seniors at ARTS for Rural Texas, and more to keep our minds active. Warm nutritious meals are served at all our programs!

 

WEEKLY PROGRAMS

Our Schulenburg and Satellite Senior Connections are open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The mornings are filled with spirited banter over coffee, table games, cards, and dominoes, creating an environment where social interaction is second nature.

 

Around Noon, we serve our warm home-cooked meal. Many members enjoy baking and contribute to our program by donating a dessert at each meal.

 

After lunch, we host our “Lunch & Learn Speakers Series,” which brings community leaders and business owners into the Center to interact with our members directly. Topics relevant to our members include health and wellness professionals, financial and legal planning, technology educators, travel experts, art and culture presenters, and other community resource representatives. Our members are encouraged to ask questions to understand better what the business they represent offers. Once we wrap up the Lunch & Learn Session, our final activity of the day is - BINGO! Bingo provides entertainment and excitement for our members. The thrill and anticipation of winning a prize while enjoying the game's lively atmosphere makes bingo the day's highlight!

Once a month, we make a fun-filled group outing! A few of our recent adventures include The George H. W. Bush Presidential Museum, Fayette Community Theater, Lyric Movie Theater, Majek Winery, Shiner Brewery, Newman’s Castle, and Van Gogh Interactive Museum.
